The relationship between you and Katura is, above all, a personal one. These terms set the practical framework around that relationship β what we promise, what we ask in return, and how we handle the uncommon things (a stone change, a delivery delay, a cancellation). They are written in plain English because the trust between a jeweller and their client deserves nothing less.
These terms govern your engagement of Katura for the design and creation of a one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery (the βCommissionβ). They apply to every bespoke consultation β whether in our atelier, via a virtual meeting, or through written correspondence β and supplement, but do not replace, our general Terms of Service.
Most Commissions begin with a deposit that covers our design time, CAD development, and (where applicable) reservation of natural stones. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the deposit is non-refundable once design work has begun, since it secures both artisan time and material exclusivity.
Quotations are valid for thirty (30) days. The balance is due upon completion of the piece and prior to shipment or hand-off. Should the design materially change at your request after work has begun, we may revise the quotation accordingly and will notify you before proceeding.
When a deposit includes a stone-hold (commonly indicated as βstone guaranteeβ on your invoice), Katura will reserve the identified stone exclusively for you for an agreed window β typically thirty (30) days. If the Commission is cancelled, the stone-hold portion of the deposit is forfeited as compensation for taking the stone off the market.
All natural stones are sourced from suppliers who comply with the Kimberley Process and Katura's broader responsible-sourcing standards.
Production of the final piece begins only after you have approved the CAD render (or, where applicable, the wax model). Once production has begun, the design is considered final. Material changes after approval may incur additional cost or restart fees.
Typical lead times range from three (3) to twelve (12) weeks depending on complexity, stone-sourcing, and finishing requirements. Specific dates are conveyed at the time of design approval.
Because each Commission is made uniquely for you, bespoke pieces are final sale and are not eligible for return or exchange. Should any manufacturing defect arise, Katura warrants the piece against such defects for one (1) year from delivery and will repair or remake at no cost.
Resizing within the first ninety (90) days following delivery is included at no charge (excluding shipping).
A complimentary written appraisal is provided with every Commission valued above USD $2,000. We strongly recommend insuring your piece β Katura partners with Jewelers Mutual and can introduce you upon request.
Designs, renders, and correspondence shared during your consultation are held in strict confidence. We do not publish images of bespoke pieces without your written permission. Anonymised process photography may occasionally appear in our portfolio; you may opt out by writing to concierge@katura1999.com.
Katura accepts major credit and debit cards via Stripe, personal cheque (US domestic), wire transfer, and select electronic services including Venmo, Wise, and Zelle. Where currency conversion is required, conversion is performed at the live Stripe market rate; no surcharge is added by Katura.
You may cancel a Commission at any time prior to design approval. Any unspent portion of your deposit (excluding non-refundable design time and any stone-hold fees) will be refunded within fourteen (14) business days. After design approval, refunds are not available.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State in which the Commission was contracted. Any disputes shall first be addressed in good faith with our concierge team before any formal proceedings.
