I love how people take my jewelry and make it their very own. Wearing it in unexpected ways, pairing it with different pieces, surprising even themselves with that chameleon quality found in well designed pieces.

One of those people is actually one of my neighbors here at the Galleries of Peachtree Hills, Atlanta's destination for fine antiques and art. Stephanie Reeves is the owner of Edgar-Reeves, an amazing source for truly one of a kind lamps and lighting, carefully curated art, antiques and au currant accessories. Stephanie's eye has traveled well and she pulls together her jewelry beautifully too.

Stacking with Intention

I went down to her shop a few days ago ...presumably to discuss something really important, probably lunch plans, or maybe I was just looking for an excuse to visit... and noticed as I was leaving, this amazing clutch of rings with one of my silver rings. Silver plus geometry can sometimes look tough or edgy. But this combination with the warmth of 18K gold, diamonds and enamel simply looked uber chic. Stephanie changes the arrangement on a daily basis. From simple gold and diamond guards, to oodles and oodles of organic silver rings.

Rings with Secret Messages

This series of rings was designed for some of my very special friends. (You know who you are!) Rings, I think most of all, we buy for ourselves. After all, we really can't see how stunning we look in those amazing earrings and necklaces without craning into every reflective surface. Not that that is a bad thing, mind you. No judgement here.

This ring series adds yet another layer to that subjective quality of rings. On each ring, on each side, is engraved a message that is only visible to the person wearing the ring. Words that convey promise and encouragement; and encouragement as an imperative. Depending upon how you look at it.

Yes, hope gives. But perhaps today you should give hope. Hurts do indeed heal, but by all means let's heal hurts.

Words Inspire Design

When I tell people that "Jewelry is everywhere!" most think I'm speaking visually. And yes, those bubbles topping my morning Starbucks could easily be translated as a beautiful pendant of cognac rose cut diamonds. That moss between the pavers on the sidewalk? I see pave' peridot and textured silver. But as often as not, words inspire my designs. This series is the result of an off chance comment of a friend. "Things change." he told me.

At that particular juncture this resonated deeply with me. And over the weeks it slowly occurred to me to "Change things." The wordplay had begun.

Basic shapes, rendered in sterling silver, that stack well with each other. I have added pearls and even canary yellow diamonds to some. A limited edition, I'm excited to see where the next iteration will take me.

Which one does Stephanie wear? Well, you'll have to stop by Edgar-Reeves. She may or may not tell you. But it will be stacked according to her whim of the day. She is after all, all about one of kind!
